Proceeds from sales at the Community Thrift Shop help fund scholarships provided by The LakeView Foundation.

Fifty $2000 scholarships will be awarded in May of this year to students accepted as nursing or healthcare students at a college or university.

The scholarship applications are due by April 15, 2014 and may be accessed online at lakeviewfoundationmi.org.  The website identifies the criteria for applicants, explains the requirements to apply for a scholarship, and provides the application forms.

The donors to the Lakeview Foundation are pleased to be able to assist local students in achieving their goals to enter the healthcare field.  in 2013, the Foundation was able to assist 47 students from Eastern Van Buren County with their college expenses.  Each scholarship awarded is renewable for an additional three years providing the applicant meets the scholarship criteria and applies for a renewal scholarship.

If you know anyone from Eastern Van Buren County that has plans to go into the medical field, please urge them to submit their application prior to April 15, 2014.
