Our Volunteers…

Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy.  You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.  ~Author Unknown

We live in a great community!

But…what does it take to make our community great?

You might think of good jobs, good schools or a beautiful downtown area.  All of these things are important  but the most important thing that makes any community great is its volunteers…

At the Community Thrift Shop, we currently have sixty active volunteers who are essential to our daily operation.  They are individuals who want to give back to their community, parents who want to set good examples for their children, retired people willing to share their wealth of knowledge, and generous citizens of all ages who want to give of their time and talents.

They are a key component to the welcoming and helpful atmosphere in our store.  Our volunteers offer their time and talents in a variety of ways including: accepting and processing donations, stocking the sales floor, straightening and cleaning racks, shelves etc., offering customer assistance, rotating displays, and cashiering.

We are always accepting applications from anyone 17 and older (age 16 with an adult partner).  We especially need substitute cashiers and men who can help with the larger, heavier tasks.

Most volunteers are scheduled on a weekly basis, for a 3 ½ hour period (morning or afternoon) and we are more than happy to adjust schedules to work around vacations or other events.

For more information on how to become a volunteer please call our shop, or fill out the form on the For More Information page.

We would love to hear from you. Please leave a reply here.
